Gary Thayer
Founder
Gary is a Lafayette, Indiana-area native who, after graduating from Southwestern High School, earned his degree from Purdue University’s Krannert School of Management in 1971.
Before founding Thayer’s Painting & Wallcovering and creating a team of expert remodeling contractors in Lafayette, Indiana in 1976, Gary owned Mini Pets and worked in insurance with USF&G and National Homes Acceptance Corporation.
In his free time, Gary likes golfing and spending time with his grandchildren.
Jason Thayer
Part Owner
Jason is the oldest son of Gary and Juanita and a 1991 graduate of Jefferson High School.
He spent a year studying Construction Technology at Purdue University before building experience in several construction and maintenance roles. He joined the family business in 1994 and has managed Thayer’s Exteriors since 2012.
Jason and his wife, Tammi, are proud parents of two daughters. Outside of work, he enjoys running, staying active through different sports, and spending time with family.
Jon Thayer
Part Owner
Jon is the middle son of Gary and Juanita and a 1995 graduate of Jefferson High School.
He attended Taylor University for a year and Purdue University the following year before joining the family business in 1997.
Jon and his wife, Jennifer, have three children—a son and two daughters. He enjoys playing basketball, participating in a variety of sports, and spending quality time with his family.
Josh Thayer
Part Owner
Josh is the youngest son of Gary and Juanita and a 1997 graduate of Jefferson High School.
He studied Business Management at Ivy Tech State College before joining the family business in 1999.
Josh and his wife, Jessie, are the proud parents of twin daughters. Outside of work, he enjoys golfing and spending time with family and friends.
Benji Blankenship
Painting Lead Project Manager
Benji has been a valued member of Thayer’s team since December 2001 and currently serves as the Painting Lead Project Manager.
He and his wife, Cassy, are proud parents of four daughters. In his free time, Benji enjoys fishing, camping, yard work, and spending time with his family.
Seth Redmon
Painting Project Manager
Seth has spent several years on the painting crew and now helps lead and manage Thayer’s drywall and painting teams.
He enjoys staying busy with the team at work, and in his free time, he loves being outdoors, trailing, and spending time at Lake Michigan. Seth also enjoys relaxing around a fire with his wife, Bliss, and their sons.
Levi Kinzie
Exteriors Lead Project Manager
Levi began working with Thayer’s as a subcontractor in 2015 and joined the team as a Project Manager in 2019.
He and his wife, Kendra, have four children. In his free time, Levi enjoys spending time with his family and caring for the part of God’s creation he has been entrusted with.
Dustin Hurley
Exteriors Project Manager
Originally from Oregon, Dustin has been with Thayer’s since September 2023 and serves as the Exteriors Project Manager.
He enjoys collaborating with the team to bring each project to life. In his free time, Dustin enjoys spending time with his family, golfing, and making furniture.
Jonathan Bohl
Outside Sales
Jonathan, a graduate of Southwestern Assemblies of God University with a degree in Organizational Leadership, joined Thayer’s in 2020 as an Outside Sales professional.
Jonathan and his wife, Erica, have three children, and he enjoys spending time in the yard, being with family, and traveling to coastal waters.
Alex Walters
Outside Sales
Alex joined the Thayer’s team in 2025 and plays a key role in assisting homeowners with their projects, helping bring their home improvements to life.
Outside of work, Alex enjoys spending time with his wife, Taylor, and their three daughters. His personal interests include traveling to explore new cities and mountains, following Notre Dame football, attending country music concerts, and discovering new restaurants.
Gunner Williams
Outside Sales
After graduating from Harrison High School, Gunner built a foundation in the construction industry working with a local construction material supplier.
He joined the Thayer’s team in 2025, bringing that experience to help clients and support projects from start to finish. Outside of work, Gunner enjoys playing golf, fishing, and spending time with loved ones. His greatest joy comes from time with his fiancée, Chloe, and their dog, Zeke.
Cassidy Thayer
Office Manager
Cassidy, Jason’s oldest daughter, joined the Thayer’s team full-time in May 2022 after graduating from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science.
Outside of work, Cassidy pursues her passion for photography through her small business, enjoys cooking, and loves spending time with her fiancé, Jake.
Juanita Thayer
Assistant Office Manager
As a Lafayette native, Juanita graduated from Jefferson High School in 1970.
She has been an integral part of Thayer’s since its early days, contributing in multiple roles across the company and helping shape its growth and culture.
Outside of work, Juanita likes time with her grandchildren, family, and friends.
